The EU now charges €2 per item on cheap online imports

What changed

Since 1 November the EU charges a €2 handling fee per item on imports from outside the EU. An item is each distinct product line, not each parcel.
It adds to a €3 duty per item on parcels up to €150, in force since 1 July 2026.
5.8 billion such parcels entered the EU in 2025, up 26%, mostly from China.
